A Message from Jeff
I've been committed to making Branford a great place to live, work, and raise a family my whole life. My desire to become your First Selectman is motivated by the same values that led me to serve the community over the last several decades as a member of the Board of Finance, a member of the Rotary Club, a leader on the Branford Festival Committee, and a member of St. John Bosco Parish.
I am running for First Selectman to protect and secure our Town's beauty, history, sense of community, and economic future. With your help, we can bring excitement and collaborative leadership to Town Hall.
We have assembled a great team for Branford - for Town offices, the Board of Education, and the RTM. The Vailette team shares is excited to help lead Branford into the future!

Leadership for Branford's Future
Branford's Town Budget
For decades, I have served on the Board of Finance alongside our Finance Director Jim Finch and several different First Selectman from both sides of the political aisle. We have always put the best interest of Branford taxpayers ahead of partisan politics. I intend to keep it that way. Responsible spending is the only sure path to a stable tax rate. I will work to assure that taxes are kept low by keeping expenses in check.
Economic Development
Keeping taxes low for residents means expanding the commercial tax base in ways that promote job creation and tax revenues---without putting more pressure on Town services, like police, fire, and schools. That means more businesses and less apartments! I will support smart investments and planning to assure we make our local economy vibrant.
Education
Local education should be controlled locally. I will oppose any federal or state initiative that would deprive parents and local educators from controlling our public schools. I will work with the Board of Education to assure our schools are safe and conducive to learning. I will build on the infrastructure investments of the last decade to make our public schools the strongest on the Shoreline.
Our Environment
Protecting our open space, ecosystems, and quality of life is important to me and to future generations. Enhancing shoreline access to our beaches, maintaining and improving our trails, and developing natural spaces for all residents to enjoy is a top priority for me.
Seniors
The Community Center renovations gave our seniors a new and well-deserved place to gather. I am committed to making certain the services we offer there keep pace with the changing needs of Branford's vibrant senior community.
Town Center
The recent RFQ for the future development of two key buildings in the Town Center is an important initiative with important implications for economic development and quality of life. I will lead the process of identifying potential developers with an eye toward a Town Center that is consistent with our local values.
